Microsoft recently signed a deal with the United States Department of Defense to install Windows 10 on 4 million computers, but it turns out that this partnership is going much better than the company had imagined.
In a recent Fedscoop interview, Pentagon CIO Terry Halvorsen praised the security of Windows 10 and recommended that all Department of Defense employees install Microsoft's latest operating system on their home computers.
“If you use a computer at home and you’re not on Windows 10, you’re doing yourself a disservice. You should install Windows 10,” he said in the interview.
“We will be releasing general guides for our employees – without promoting Windows 10 or Microsoft specifically (ed: good?). These guides will include what features Windows 10 has if you install the operating system at home.”
It goes without saying that these statements will help Microsoft make Windows 10 available on as many devices as possible.
The deal with the company and the US Department of Defense alone will bring Windows 10 to 4 million devices and is a huge win for Microsoft.
If it is followed by such statements encouraging employees to switch to the new operating system, the promotion of the operating system seems to be going great.
Of course, we cannot know the reasons that prompted Mr. Terry Halvorsen to make such a statement and offer free (?) advertising to Microsoft, praising an operating system for its security, when there are several reports of reckless data collection..
