WhatsApp's announcement earlier this month that it was leaving BlackBerry was just the beginning of Facebook's exit from the platform!

The world's largest social network and its Messenger app will stop working on BlackBerry's operating system, including BB10, by the end of 2016.

In a blog post on the company's website, the app team announced that Facebook has decided to discontinue support for core APIs for BlackBerry. They tried to change their minds, but it seems Mark Zuckerberg and his crew won't budge. The team even started a Twitter campaign in an attempt to get Facebook to reconsider the decision
“We are extremely disappointed with their decision as we know that many users love these apps. We fought to get WhatsApp and Facebook to change their minds but so far their decision remains firm,” a BB spokesperson wrote on the company’s official blog.
When WhatsApp revealed its decision to leave BB, the announcement said that Android, iOS, and Windows Phone platforms account for 99.5% of smartphone sales. The company decided to leave BB because it wanted to focus its efforts on developing the app for the platforms that sell the most.
Its parent company probably has the same explanation for its departure. BB users will be able to use the app until the end of 2016 and from then on they will either have to accept it or switch platforms!
