Are you curious to see who views your Instagram profile? Surely many want to know and there are apps on the Google Play Store and Apple's App Store that promise just that! But can we believe it? Is there really a way to see who views our Instagram profile?

The shortest answer to all of this is simply NO! There is no such feature on Instagram yet! But users have this hope and hackers are exploiting it to target a large audience!
Recently, security researchers discovered some malicious apps in both Google and Apple's App Stores that are simply a hoax and are aimed at Instagram users!
The iOS app is called “InstaCare – Who cares with me?” and is one of the top apps in Germany, and the Android app is called “Who Viewed Me on Instagram” and has over 100,000 downloads and 20,000 reviews.

Both apps were created by Turker Bayram, the same developer who created the malicious “InstaAgent” app for Android and iOS late last year that stole users’ credentials.
Bayram's recent apps do the same, luring social network users into believing that by downloading them they will see who is viewing their profile.
The application claims that:
- It will show you the most recent 100 lists for your Instagram profile
- It will show your friends list in order of who cares the most about your profile
But in reality, malicious applications abuse the authentication process and steal users' usernames and passwords, according to a blog post published by David Layer-Reiss from Peppersoft.
Since third-party apps use APIs to authenticate with legitimate apps, users generally provide the same credentials to verify their identity across different apps and services!
Nowadays it is quite easy for hackers to target a large audience! They simply misuse the name of a popular application and give users some extra choice for it. Users simply provide their critical data without knowing the consequences!

Once users install 'InstaCare' or 'Who Viewed Me on Instagram' on their device, a login window opens that forces victims to enter their Instagram login details. The usernames and passwords are then encrypted and sent to the hacker's server. The hacker will then use these details to log into the victims' accounts and take full control and post spams.
Security researchers from Kaspersky Labs also confirmed Layer-Reiss' findings. So far, neither Google nor Apple have removed the malicious apps while they are still available to users!
If you have installed either of these apps, uninstall them immediately and change your Instagram password. For even greater security, enable two-factor authentication on your account!
