iPhone Error 53: Apple's move that has caused a storm of reactions!

Apple has confirmed that it will intentionally disable iPhone devices that have been repaired by third parties (unauthorized persons).

Facing numerous complaints from users, the company insists it is only doing this to better protect user privacy and payment security.

Offering further reasons why it believes the iPhone should be completely turned off, Apple said that turning off the device ensures that there will be no unauthorized use of Apple Pay and Touch ID.

As we learned last week, iOS 9 is displaying “Error 53” when it detects that an iPhone has been repaired by a third party. The issue is related to the iPhone’s Touch ID sensor (which is built into the home button) that manages multiple user fingerprints.

When Touch ID is repaired by a non-Apple authorized representative, the system is able to detect the non-standard component. This could potentially compromise the security of the iPhone, so Apple disables the device completely to protect users from any misuse.

The problem could also occur if a part, such as the screen, that works in conjunction with Touch ID, is replaced. If the Touch ID sensor is replaced by an authorized Apple representative, the company ensures that the new part of the device is re-certified.

In a way, Apple's approach makes perfect sense, as the company is trying to ensure that no unauthorized person can break into an iPhone. As Apple has explained in the past, the company stores fingerprint data on the device itself, and does not create a copy of it in the cloud.

As we've mentioned before, people continue to go to third-party stores to get their iPhone repaired due to the significant difference in pricing.

Several forums – including the company’s support channel, Reddit and others – have been flooded with complaints from users. Users are furious that Apple didn’t give any warning before disabling their iPhones. Many people believe that the iPhone should be allowed to function normally, with only Touch ID and Apple Pay disabled.

What do you think about this? How do you find Apple's move? We await your opinion in the comments below!
