Since 2004, Google has been paying Mozilla a hefty sum each year to be the default search engine in the popular browser. In fact, this sum is estimated at around $100 million each year, which is the lion's share of Mozilla's revenue, which amounts to 85%.

The three-year agreement, which was signed in 2011, has come to an end and it seems that it will not be renewed. Mozilla announced today that the browser will change the default search engine in the US and will now have Yahoo (which continues to be provided by Bing). It will also use Yandex in Russia and Baidu in China.
Yahoo and Mozilla have signed a five-year agreement, with Yahoo starting to push its “Do Not Track” feature to Firefox users to limit the ability to track users’ browsing habits based on advertising messages. It also announced that it will begin designing a new interface for US users in early December.
