Damballa Threat Discovery Center experts discovered the rebirth of the Darkode forum!
In July 2015, an international joint effort by law enforcement authorities led to the arrest of dozens of people active on the popular Darkode crime forum.
Darkode was a black market that specialized in selling exploit kits and hacking tools, while its sellers also offered spam services and malware customization services.
The FBI, along with Europol and the Brazilian Federal Police, had been monitoring the cyber criminal forum since March, and the mission resulted in 62 arrests in 18 countries around the world, including Colombia, Germany, India and the United Kingdom.
According to the administrator, who uses the online pseudonym Sp3cial1st, after Darkode was seized on July 14, he was waiting for the identities of those arrested to be revealed before deciding whether to bring the forum back online.
In late July, the administrator of the Darkode hacking forum announced the platform's imminent return online with new security improvements.
Last July, the Damballa Threat Discovery Center announced that the infamous web forum, Darkode, was supposedly being revived by sp3cial1st.
So, since then, the Damballa Threat Discovery Center has been monitoring the dark web for a new Darkode forum. And lo and behold, the experts discovered the reborn Darkode Reloaded. Apparently, the Darkode forum was developed on the dark web for “security” and anonymity reasons, but the forum remains accessible even without a Tor client, which reveals poor design.
According to Damballa experts, the current administrator of the Darkode forum, Sven, is a previous member of the forum.
