Microsoft will enter our cars with Cortana as a driver!
Redmond is looking for partners to create connected cars!
Windows in the car is not a new concept, as the company previously presented a similar project in April 2014, but it seems that the arrival of Windows 10 has slightly postponed the company's plans to finally introduce the new software to vehicles in the coming years.
The software giant is now looking for partners in Taiwan to help it create what it calls “connected cars,” which are vehicles whose capabilities depend on a personal assistant. In this case, Cortana will play that role, taking care of everything in your vehicle, leaving you to enjoy your drive.
Samuel Shen, COO of Microsoft for Asia Pacific, revealed that a prototype of a connected car that drives with the help of Cortana has already been created, but its presentation is not yet available to the public.
Shen did confirm, however, that Cortana can take over and take care of common things, such as the navigation system, or the music system, with voice commands, so you'll simply say "Hey Cortana, show me directions to my office" and your personal assistant will automatically search for the route to your office.
In addition, Cortana can accept voice commands for more advanced things, such as asking her to make a restaurant reservation or buy concert tickets. Basically, you'll be able to do the same things with Cortana in your car that you do on a PC or Windows 10 Mobile.
