Microsoft has released the beta version of Skype for Web, which is now available to everyone, worldwide, at web.skype.com.
Skype for Web is a service that allows you to stay in touch with your friends and family without having to install an application. You can log in directly with your username and password from your browser. The web-based version will only require you to install a small program (plugin).
As expected, the service works best in Internet Explorer, and is currently in beta. Additionally, voice calling does not work on Chromebooks and Linux computers, but this is expected to change soon.
Supported browsers are Mozilla Firefox, Google Chrome, Internet Explorer and Safari, and all users need to install is a plugin for voice calls.
Supported languages include Greek. Other supported languages are: Arabic, Bulgarian, Czech, Danish, English, German, Spanish, Estonian, Finnish, French, Hebrew, Hindi, Hungarian, Indonesian, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Norwegian, Dutch, Polish, Portuguese (Brazilian and Portuguese), Romanian, Russian, Swedish, Turkish, Ukrainian, Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese.
