Owners of Samsung's new smartphones are complaining about a RAM bug that causes apps to restart during multitasking.
This in turn causes data loss in applications running in the background.
While the Samsung S6 and S6 Edge devices have 3GB of DDR4 RAM, the software that controls memory management seems to be too aggressive, closing background apps prematurely.
Users of the devices have discovered that excessive RAM usage can be fixed by manually closing applications running in the background or by restarting the device.
However, this may not be the solution for high-end devices like the S6 and S6 Edge. According to a message posted on Facebook by Samsung Mobile UK, an update may address the issue.
Interestingly ,the Android 5.1.1 changelog mentions that “RAM management has been improved.” However, the S6 and S6 Edge devices are running Android 5.0.2. A patch should probably be enough, but Samsung will have to release it first.
