A virtual mobile that meets the communication needs of 5 million migrants is coming to Greece. Lebara charges calls to Albania from landlines 12 cents, to mobiles 25 cents and SMS 6 cents and allows free communication between users of its Lebara Talk smartphone application. The service is not charged a connection fee and provides free credit balance of 25% of the prepaid time.
- Did you know that: A virtual mobile service provider does not use its own infrastructure, but relies on a relevant agreement with a provider that has created its own network for the use of a portion of the available resources.
Lebara serves its customers from a call center in London, which covers all European businesses, with staff fluent in more than 20 languages.
The Lebara Talk app is available for smartphones, Android and iOS, and was initially launched in the following six languages: English, Chinese (Mandarin), Arabic, Italian, Spanish and Indonesian, with free credit balance on download.
Mr. Yoganathan Ratheesan, Chairman and CEO of Lebara Group, commented on the choice to offer the prepaid airtime top-up service: “From our experience, we know that not everyone has access to a bank account, and this is the main reason that prompted us to collaborate with local stores that offer the services of transferring units and increasing the airtime limit with cash. We have adopted the same approach for Lebara Talk on a global basis to make the application as accessible as possible to socially weaker groups.”
The Lebara Talk app is available for smartphones with Android and iOS and its main features are:
- The user can locate the local store that offers Lebara Talk services – the transaction can be made with cash or card, through the app itself or online.
- The app works on all networks, without needing to change the existing SIM card.
- The user can see the rates before making a call, so they know what they spend on international calls.
- The company provides the Super Savers packages, for savings on numbers the user calls regularly.
- It supports HD call quality via WiFi.
- The cost of chatting with other users of the Talk app is zero.
