Cooperation between Greek and Israeli Space Industry

This week, a delegation of the Greek Industry , together with representatives of the Israeli Space Agency , as well as representatives of the Israeli Aerospace Industry RARAEL and the European Space Agency (ESA), held discussions on the consolidation of cooperation between the Greek Space Industry and the corresponding Israeli Industry for the manufacture of products for use in satellites.

The meeting was held in the framework of the 10th Ilan Ramon Space Conference and took place at the offices of the Israel Space Agency in Tel Aviv. The Greek side was represented by the President of the Association of Space Technology and Applications Industries (EVIDITE) Mr. Thanasis Potsis, the CEO of Strategy and Financial Services of Corallia Mr. Jorge Andres Sanchez Papaspiliou, as well as representatives of the companies INASCO and PRISMA Electronics, as well as the General Manager of the company ESS Mr. Manolis Zervakis and Professor Zalidis Georgios, Member of the Board of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and Scientific Director of the Inter-Balkan Environment Center (I-Bec). On behalf of the European Space Agency, Dr. Konstantinos Stavrinidis (Head of Mechanical Engineering Department).

The Greek delegation, accompanied by the Head of the Commercial and Economic Affairs Office of the Greek Embassy in Israel, Mr. Alexandros Alexiadis, held discussions with representatives of the Ministry of Science, Technology and Space of Israel. Issues concerning the development of cooperation between the two states were discussed, while emphasizing the need for the successful completion of cooperation programs that are already being implemented in the field of electric motor systems for the new generation of satellite systems. In addition, new areas of potential cooperation were discussed, utilizing the investments and technological capabilities that the Greek space industry has successfully developed in recent years

Specifically, as Mr. Potsis mentioned, the development of Space Technology in Greece has reached a point where we can stand worthy alongside corresponding European ones in sectors such as navigation technology, electric propulsion systems, remote sensing, as well as technologies that are in development stages such as robotics, as well as the geographical location of our country, are important factors for the development of cooperation between Greece and Israel, thus opening the gates for Israel to cooperate with other countries of the European Union, but also contributing to the increase in the rate of geostationary return in our country, as shown by our participation in the European Space Agency.

The two sides agreed to further strengthen their cooperation in areas of common interest, while meetings at the industrial level are expected to intensify further in the coming months.

It is noted that prior to the above meeting, the Greek delegation visited the Ambassador of Greece in Tel Aviv, Mr. Spyros Lambridis, whom they informed in detail about the activities and technological achievements of the Greek Space industry in recent years.
