HP has introduced its new Ultrabook with the aim of competing with Apple and the MacBook Air in the ultraportable laptop category .
The HP Elitebook Folio 1020 is a thin laptop with a 12.5-inch screen, a Core M processor and 8GB of RAM with a 128GB SSD for storage. Its battery life reaches 9 hours, while the choice of Intel Core M was made because this particular processor has minimal thermal emissions, making it suitable for such a thin laptop (its thickness does not exceed 16 mm), since it does not need fans for cooling.
The basic version of the HP Elitebook Folio 1020 has a 12.5-inch 1080p touchscreen and an aluminum build.
The second and better version will be made of carbon fiber and magnesium-lithium alloy, with the same processor and memory, storage space of up to 256GB, while the 12.5-inch screen will have QHD resolution (2560 x 1440 pixels), but not touch.
All versions have a fingerprint sensor and their weight will not exceed 1.2 kilograms, while they meet military specifications (MIL-STD-810G) regarding safety from drops and vibrations.
Finally, the operating system will be Windows 8.1, and it is expected to be on the market in the first months of 2015, without knowing anything about the price.
