GreeceThe meeting was also attended by the Secretary General of Transport of the Ministry of Transport, Infrastructure and Networks, Nikos Stathopoulos, who presented Greece's main strategies on Intelligent Transport Systems.
ERTICO CEO Hermann Meyer presented ERTICO's activities, the opportunities for collaboration with Greek organizations and companies, as well as ERTICO's ability to operate as a
platform cooperation and exchange of information. The Director of EPISEY, Professor Ioannis Vassiliou presented the activities of EPISEY in transport issues, both people and freight. Dr. Angelos Amditis, Research Director of EPISEY and President of ITS Hellas, presented the situation in Greece in terms of Intelligent Transport Systems, the new initiatives and activities of Greek institutions and
companies. Among others, such technologies are being developed by the company Piraeus Container Terminal (SEP S.A.) and the company Attica Routes S.A. ITS Hellas – “Hellenic Organization for Intelligent Transport Systems” is a Non-Profit Civil Liability Company founded in 2008 with the aim of developing Greek technological solutions, infrastructure and services for Intelligent Transport Systems in our country. It has 32 members from the public sector (ministries, public organizations, local governments), the private sector (industries, small and medium-sized enterprises, service providers) and the academic community (Research Institutes, Universities).
EPISEY is a non-profit Academic Research Foundation, established in 1989 by the Ministry of Education, with the aim of conducting research and development activities in all areas of telecommunications, computer systems and techniques. It deals with a wide range of fields, such as transceivers, radars, electromagnetic sensors, satellite and wireless communication, neural networks, telematics and Multimedia applications, transportation applications, control systems, robotics, biomedical engineering, electrical energy, etc.
The I-SENSE research group of EPISES, under the guidance of Dr. Angelos Amditis, is active in all aspects of human and freight transport, with an emphasis on the automation of the transport system, electromobility, interoperability between various means of transport, active safety, eCall, the supply chain and "smart" cities.
