The prospect of changing Facebook's color is quite tempting for the average social networking user, who is willing to follow a random link in order to gain access to this particular feature.
Of course, cybercriminals know this well, which is why they occasionally use various methods that promise to change the color of Facecook, deceiving unsuspecting users.
Security researchers from Chinese company Cheetah Mobile have identified a similar threat, which targets users of the popular social network, encouraging them to use the “Facebook Color Changer” app. Below you can see a screenshot of the app:
Users are asked to follow specific steps in order to see Facebook's color change, however, through this process, they are redirected to phishing websites.
According to experts, the victims of this particular scam have so far reached 10,000, a surprising figure, given that this is not the first time that this particular scam has made the rounds on the social network.
