Monsanto, a chemical and agricultural biotechnology company, announced that hackers managed to breach the server of its subsidiary Precision Planting Company.
The breach took place in late March, affecting approximately 1300 customers and employees.
The compromised contained sensitive information, including customer names, addresses, tax identification numbers, social security numbers, and financial details.
The server also contained Human Resources data including employee names, addresses, social security numbers, and some driver's license numbers.
The company claims that the attack was not aimed at stealing customer information.
Finally, the company is providing one year of free credit monitoring and identity theft insurance to everyone affected by the attack.
