The terminals of the ERA – GLONASS Emergency Response System will be available for private cars from January 1, 2015, as stated yesterday by GLONASS President Alexander Gurko.
Moreover, from 2015, equipment supported by ERA – GLONASS will be mandatory on all means of transport in the countries of the Eurasian Customs Union – Russia, Belarus and Kazakhstan, while from 2017, the equipment will be mandatory on all transport vehicles sold in the Customs Union.
The equipment will be installed during the manufacture of vehicles or at sales centers, so the price will be set accordingly. According to estimates from leading manufacturers and dealers, the price will be around 3,000 rubles ($87).
Installation on older vehicles, regardless of make or year of manufacture, will be slightly more expensive, reaching 4-5,000 rubles ($116-145). Installation will only be carried out at certified workshops.
The new system provides full insurance coverage to users at a very affordable price, while the connection to the satellite system is free. Any additional services that will be installed at the discretion of the driver will be subject to an additional charge.
