FireEye is taking a new approach to malware detection with NX appliances. As this test shows, the appliance allows FireEye to proceed – but only in virtual machines running inside the appliance.
In our tests, the FireEye appliance performed flawlessly. Not all multi-stage malware samples were detected, including some related to recent zero-day exploits. The top-of-the-line NX 10000 ran at speeds in excess of 4Gbps in inline mode and at 9Gbps with and without the attack present.
