According to a report, Pegatron has received orders from Apple to begin production of the iPhone 6. More specifically, the supplier is initially assigned 15% of all versions of Apple's upcoming iPhone.
This news is in line with what we've heard in recent months, namely that Apple will split production of the iPhone 6 between Foxconn and Pegatron. Initially, early estimates suggested a 50-50 production process, but we don't know why that might have changed.
Specifically, as Macotakara reports:
"Rumors from Apple's supply chain. The company will introduce a 4.7-inch iPhone in the third quarter of 2014 and the market is very optimistic about a larger iPhone, which is expected to create a huge wave of sales and demand for the new device. With the assumption that Apple will keep the iPhone 4S and iPhone 5C on the market, early estimates indicate that Pegatron should deliver a total of 50 million devices compared to the 3.5 million it delivered last year, a significant growth of 40%.".
Apple, in an effort to add new companies to its production chain, has in recent years formed ties with Pegatron. In 2013, it was the main supplier for the iPhone 5C and also moved into production of the iPad Mini.
