The device is expected to be available in the third quarter of 2014
The China Times reported yesterday that Apple has begun production of its upcoming iWatch, with the device expected to be available in the third quarter of this year.
Specifically we read:
"According to sources from Apple's supply chain, the company has begun producing the iWatch initially in small numbers.
The product in question will be ready to launch sometime in the second half of 2014. Apple will use SiPs (or system-in-package modules) for its chip as opposed to the current PCBs (Printed Circuit Boards) that are on the market. The sources emphasize that this technology will allow Apple to have a number of sensors in the iWatch on a single chipset for size reasons and certainly the device will have a very small footprint in terms of its size.
