Blocks links that lead to content that may be harmful, as it receives information about malicious websites in real time
Kaspersky Lab has announced the availability of its new, free Kaspersky Safe Browser for Windows Phone app, which offers secure browsing to smartphone users running Microsoft's operating system. The app is already available in the Windows Phone Store.
The new solution offers protection against phishing, a particularly widespread threat that affects both computers and mobile devices. To carry out phishing attacks, cybercriminals create fake websites and emails in order to trick unsuspecting users and extract personal data from them. According to a survey conducted by B2B International, one in three Internet users received messages with links leading to phishing websites in the last year.
Kaspersky Safe Browser for Windows Phone blocks links that lead to potentially harmful content. The application receives information about malicious websites in real time from the anti-phishing database located on the cloud-based Kaspersky Security Network platform. This allows the application to block even phishing pages that have appeared very recently on the Internet.
Additionally, the application allows users to “filter” web resources based on their content. Users can choose which categories of websites should be blocked, such as pornographic websites, pages containing profanity or violence, gambling websites, social networking sites, etc.
This feature also helps parents protect their children from harmful content. Kaspersky Safe Browser for Windows Phone should be added to Kid's Corner, the special area of Windows Phones that hosts content for children and apps selected by parents.
