The number of malware targeting the Android platform is increasing day by day. One of the most important tools developed for remote access and management of Android is AndroRAT, which is also said to be the first malware APK binder (a tool that allows users to embed malware into genuine Android applications).
Symantec researchers have identified another Android malware toolkit called “Dendroid,” which is being sold through underground forums and marketplaces.
The malware is available for $300 from a seller with the nickname “soccer.”.
Dendroid is an HTTP based RAT, with several capabilities and features. These capabilities include:
-Delete call logs
-Making calls
-Opening websites
-Audio and call recording
-Send messages
-Download and upload photos and videos
-Performing DoS attacks
Experts point out that there is a connection between Dendroid and AndroRAT, as the Dendroid APK binder, included in the package, is based on the original AndroRAT APK binder.
