Economic growth and job creation are the goals of a supercomputer network, which is being built by six universities in Wales, as well as private sector companies.
According to a BBC report, this network leverages the vast computing capabilities of supercomputers to help small and medium-sized businesses improve their productivity and innovation.
The entire project is funded by the Welsh and UK governments, as well as by the EU.
Supercomputers are used by large companies to store and analyze data, performing calculations at much faster speeds than "conventional" computers. This network of supercomputers will be accessible to smaller companies, who will be able to use it for their own purposes.
The universities collaborating in the project are Aberystwyth, Bangor, Cardiff, Swansea, University of South Wales and University of Wales, Trinity Saint David. Fujitsu and Microsoft are also participating in the program.
