The Economic Police and Cybercrime Prosecution Service, Dicographia, investigated another case of child pornography via the internet.
In this case, a 50-year-old Greek national was arrested in Thessaloniki, in whose possession a large amount of "hard" child pornography material was found.
Specifically, the Sub-Directorate for the Prosecution of Electronic Crime was informed by the Russian Authorities that, following online investigations carried out using special software, unknown internet users were in possession of and had the opportunity to share on the internet three (3) files (videos) of hard child pornography material. In parallel, the electronic traces of these users were identified in six (6) electronic addresses (IP) of providers in Greek territory.
The competent prosecution authorities were informed of the above and, after issuing a relevant decree to lift the confidentiality of communications via the internet, the data was identified and the actions of the 50-year-old arrested person were verified.
In a search carried out at his home in Thessaloniki, in the presence of a Judicial Officer, three (3) internal computer hard drives, one (1) external hard drive and one (1) portable storage device (USB stick) were found, on which, after an on-site inspection, numerous files of child pornography were found.
The seized evidence will be sent to the Forensic Investigations Sub-Directorate of Northern Greece for laboratory tests.
The arrested person with the criminal case filed against him will be taken to the Thessaloniki First Instance Prosecutor's Office.
