A new trojan virus, known as Cryptolocker, belongs to this category, having been created last September. This virus “locks” all the files on the computer and does not allow the user to open them, but only to see them on the screen, helpless to do anything. The only way to “unlock” the computer again is for the victim to give in to the blackmail of the perpetrators, who ask for a sum of money in exchange for leaving him alone!
This virus has recently appeared in our country. The reason it is so dangerous is that the anti-virus programs on the market have not yet managed to deal with the virus, as it has only been created for 4 months. The only solution, therefore, is to format the hard drive, which means that the files are permanently lost, unless the victim intends to pay the amount to the hackers (without being guaranteed that they will unlock their files) or wait as long as necessary, hoping for an anti-virus program to be released that can “cure” their computer from Cryptolocker.
