A 19-year-old woman was allegedly blackmailed via Facebook by a 20-year-old man, who asked her for money in order not to publish her photos and conversations.
The young man was arrested on Tuesday by the Economic Police & Cybercrime Prosecution Service for extortion and violation of personal data legislation, via the internet…
Specifically, according to the 19-year-old's complaint, approximately three months ago, an unknown person approached her via the social networking site Facebook and blackmailed her into sending him personal photos of herself, as otherwise he would make public her personal online conversations, which he had intercepted from the social network.
Then, as it turned out, the same perpetrator, using different profiles, approached the 19-year-old again, via Facebook, demanding money to not publish the photos.
According to the Police, yesterday, Tuesday, at a pre-arranged meeting with the 19-year-old, the perpetrator was arrested after receiving a pre-arranged amount of money, while during the search carried out at his home, in the presence of a judicial officer, a laptop computer and a tablet were found and seized.
The arrested person, with the criminal case filed against him, is being taken today (08-01-2014) morning to the Athens First Instance Prosecutor's Office.
