Apple's upcoming AirPods Pro , which will be equipped with cameras , are nearing completion and have reached the "advanced" testing stage , according to Bloomberg. The design appears to be nearly final, as is the feature set. Early mass production could begin soon.
How will the new AirPods Pro work with cameras?
The AirPods Pro will feature built-in cameras that will transmit visual information about the user's surroundings to Siri. Although there will be a larger camera stem on each AirPod, the device will otherwise resemble the AirPods Pro 3.

The cameras on AirPods won't be able to take photos or videos and will be used solely for AI purposes. A small LED light will light up when the AirPods are sending visual information to Siri.
Apple wants users to be able to look at an object and ask Siri questions about it. The cameras could also offer visual reminders and provide more detailed directions by seeing what's around the user.
The Camera app in iOS 27 is also expected to gain a Siri feature that incorporates Visual Intelligence, allowing users to do things like scan nutrition labels on food packages to track calories.

Apple was supposed to start selling the new AirPods Pro in the first half of 2026, but the product launch has been delayed because the smarter, AI version of Siri isn't ready to launch yet. The new Siri is expected to debut in September in iOS 27, macOS 27, and iPadOS 27, so we could see the AirPods Pro launch sometime in the same timeframe.
