Google's new application brings 1900 online magazines and newspapers to the screens of "smart" mobile phones.
The American company Google announced the launch of a new application for "smart" mobile phones and tablet computers that offers users 1,900 online magazines, newspapers and online publications, some free and some paid.
The name of the online "newsstand" is Google Play Newsstand.
Among the online newspaper editions included in the new application are the New York Times and the Wall Street Journal, while the magazines include the New Yorker, Vanity Fair and Wired.
At the same time, at the Google "kiosk" users will have access to free blogs and informational websites, which have entered into an agreement with Google.
Google's goal, as underlined in a relevant announcement, is to bring each user "the news that really interests them and to have the ability to choose the categories of news they want to follow.".
Users will have the ability to subscribe to specific free news sources (websites, newspapers and magazines), while for those publications that are offered for a fee, the subscription process will be done through Google Play.
Users in the UK, US, Canada and Australia will have access to the new service in the coming days. It is not yet known when the app will be available in the rest of the world.
