Solar moped built by a Greek

It charges with the sun and can travel 240 kilometers, has a capacity for three people and represents a unique ecological mobility with minimal cost.

Thessalonians have the opportunity to admire the solar three-wheeled motorbike “Sunnyclist”, built by mechanical engineer Manolis Tsikandylakis in Heraklion, Crete, at Booth 13 of Philoxenia until the upcoming Sunday.

“The construction of the motorbike was completed just two months ago and we already have the first 10 orders that will be ready in spring, from hotels and car rental businesses in tourist areas” said at the AP-PE Mr. Tsikandylakis, clarifying that the Sunnyclist is ideal for the Greek islands, where distances are short and the roads are low speed.

Add that the assembly of the entire vehicle is done in Crete, and its goal is for production to reach 100 motorbikes per year, making it a new means of ecological and safe transportation.

The Sunnyclist is autonomous and in most cases does not require charging from the electric grid, it is an economical solution compared to other energy vehicles, it can serve a large portion of trips with minimal cost and is flexible for urban areas.

Among its advantages is the fact that, if needed, it can charge from a standard outlet in two hours and can move either with the engine or with the pedals.

“And, of course, its price is relatively low since it costs from 8,000 euros to 11,000 euros, depending on the battery and the photovoltaic that will be selected” the manufacturer concluded.
