Security experts have identified a new spam campaign, which relies on sending emails to unsuspecting users, with the aim of providing humanitarian aid to war refugees in Africa.
The misleading emails purport to come from the non-profit organization “African Development Humanitarian Council,” which does not exist.
Security researcher Conrad Longmore says the fake messages inform potential victims about the organization's recent action to collect food items such as rice, beans, milk, sugar and oil.
The food is intended to provide humanitarian aid to war refugees in Africa, who come from affected countries such as Ivory Coast, Somalia, Sudan and Liberia.
The emails contain links to the recently registered domain, adhcouncil.org, which appears to have been registered using fake credentials. Recipients are asked to respond to the email address, camaraamadu9@gmail.com.
If you encounter similar emails, simply ignore them, as cybercriminals are likely aiming to steal your personal information or extort money.
