Message from the President of the Organizing Committee
It is with great pleasure that we invite you to participate in the 3rd Panhellenic Interdisciplinary Conference with International Participation, <<E-LIFE 2013> >, of the Hellenic Society for the Study of Internet Addiction Disorder, which will take place at the DANAO Cinema, in Athens, November 1-2.
Among new technologies, the explosive development of information science occupies a privileged position and has opened new horizons worldwide for health services, public administration, education, research and communication. The Internet has emerged as an extremely important means for personal communication, academic research, information exchange and entertainment. While the positive aspects of the Internet are obvious, there is a growing concern about the development of pathological behaviors in relation to it. The effects on physical health from prolonged exposure to screens and a sedentary lifestyle, addiction to the Internet, online gambling and online pornography, the excessive involvement of young people in online games and social networking sites, the emergence of new types of antisocial behaviors expressed in harassment, bullying, cybercrime and online suicides are now occupying scientists from different scientific fields.
Our aim at this conference is to present the research of expert scientists in relation to high-risk behaviors that develop on the internet in matters of safety and health.
As organizers and hosts, we will strive to ensure that your participation is scientifically fruitful and your stay in the city of Athens is particularly pleasant.
