Message of the President of the Organizing Committee
It is with great pleasure that we invite you to participate in the 3rd Panhellenic Interdisciplinary Conference with International Participation, <>, of the Hellenic Society for the Study of Internet Addiction Disorder, which will take place at DANAO Cinema, in Athens, on November 1-2.
Among the new technologies, the explosive growth of information science has a privileged position and has opened up new horizons for health, public administration, education, research and communication services worldwide. The Internet has become an extremely important medium for personal communication, academic research, information exchange and entertainment. While the positive aspects of the Internet are obvious, there is growing concern about the development of pathological behaviours in relation to it. The effects on physical health of prolonged screen time and sedentary lifestyles, Internet addiction, online gambling and online pornography, the excessive use of online games and social networking sites by young people, the emergence of new types of anti-social behaviour expressed through harassment, bullying, cybercrime and online suicide are now a concern for scientists from different disciplines.
Our aim in this conference is to present the research of experts in relation to the high-risk behaviours that develop on the internet in terms of health and safety.
As organizers and hosts, we will try to make your participation scientifically fruitful and your stay in the city of Athens particularly enjoyable.
