At an event announcing the partnership, Bookshop.org founder and CEO Andy Hunterspoke about the importance of reading, saying that “Spotify brings more readers, and I’m all for anything that increases the size of the pie.” The partnership is expected to breathe new life into the book market by offering Spotify users the opportunity to combine the digital and physical reading experience.

The Page Match feature will allow users to use their camera to recognize physical books and sync them with the corresponding audio versions in the app. This means that users will be able to continue reading from where they left off, whether it is a physical book, audiobook, or ebook. This innovation is expected to enhance the user experience, making reading more accessible and interactive.

The partnership with Bookshop.org is strategic for Spotify, as it allows it to enter a new market and attract a wider audience. Known for its support for local booksellers, Bookshop.org offers an alternative to large chains and online platforms, strengthening the local economy and promoting a love of books.
