ParkMobile settled a class action lawsuit over the platform's 2021 data breach, which affected 22 million users. Victims receive compensation in the form of a $1 in-app credit, which they must manually claim, and which has an expiration date .

The popular mobile and online parking payment platform, based in Atlanta, began sending emails last week to the plaintiffs of the class action, informing them how to claim their share from the settlement fund. The settlement follows a lawsuit accusing ParkMobile of not adequately protecting user data that was breached in the 2021 incident.
The account information of nearly 22 million ParkMobile customers was stolen by malicious actors, who then leaked the entire database to a hacking forum . This 4.5GB data leak contained customers’ first and last names, initials, mobile phone numbers, email addresses, usernames, bcrypt-hashed passwords , postal addresses, license plate numbers, and vehicle information.

As of December 2024, the lawsuit filed in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Georgia had resulted in a $32.8 million. The company denied any wrongdoing in the settlement, stating that the settlement is not an admission of wrongdoing or an indication that ParkMobile has violated any law.
Affected users were asked to submit a claim form to the law firms Baker et al. by March 5, 2025. Those who did not submit the forms received a code via email from ParkMobile to receive a $1.00 credit on the ParkMobile app. The code provides a $0.25 discount on ParkMobile service fees and can be used up to four times for a total of $1.00 off.
The credit is not automatic; users must manually apply a special promo code, P@rkMobile-$1, and add it to their account under Payment→Discounts before starting a session. For most users, the code expires on October 8, 2026, but California residents have a code that does not expire.

The code will only work for accounts linked to email addresses that fall into the category and can be used for the next transaction, but not for reservations. Users can check if their information was compromised in the 2021 data breach at HaveIBeenPwned by entering their email address linked to ParkMobile.
