The METRO AEBE group – the METRO Cash & Carry website and the My Market website – are experiencing technical problems due to the latest CrowdStrike update that took place in the early hours of Friday, July 19? The software update has caused headaches for millions of companies worldwide and it seems that Greek companies are also included in the list. One of them is METRO AEBE – the group includes the companies My Market and METRO Cash & Carry – as can be concluded from two main points.

This year, CrowdStrike, in collaboration with Pylones Hellas, completed the procurement and installation of CrowdStrike's EDR and Next Generation AV solution on 5,000 endpoints (desktops & servers) of METRO AEBE.

When someone visits the official METRO Cash & Carry website , metrocashandcarry.gr , they will see the following message posted in red:

"Due to a technical problem, there will be delays in delivery & preparation of orders."

Are METRO AEBE and My Market affected by the CrowdStrike blackout?

A similar message appears on the My Market, mymarket.gr.

"We would like to inform you that due to a technical problem, there may be delays in the delivery of orders. You will be informed again about the delivery time. We apologize for the inconvenience."

Are METRO AEBE and My Market affected by the CrowdStrike blackout?

According to the announcement, they appear to be experiencing technical issues that are directly affecting their customers. At this point, one can't help but wonder if these technical issues stem from the failed CrowdStrike update or is it just a diabolical coincidence?

To resolve this issue, we contacted METRO SA seeking an answer as to whether their systems have been affected by CrowdStrike, but they did not want to comment on the matter. Continuing, we also contacted CrowdStrike's official partner in Greece, Pylones Hellas, but the company did not comment.
