New features in Adobe Premiere Pro, with built-in artificial intelligence, eliminate tedious audio editing tasks.
The Enhanced Speech tool for cleaning up dialogue is getting a full release, while Adobe is adding new beta features like interactive fade handles and clip effects badges (tagging) to an exclusive trial version.

These new beta features in Adobe Premiere Pro aim to speed up audio editing tasks so users can focus on other creative projects. The interactive crossfade controls feature allows users to quickly create custom audio transitions by dragging them directly into their main editing timeline. The Enhanced Speech beta feature will be available to all Premiere Pro users in the coming weeks.
Other updates in Premiere Pro beta include AI-powered tagging, which automatically identifies and labels clips as dialogue, music, sound effects or backgrounds, as well as interactive labels that reduce the amount of mouse movement needed to find specific editing tools. The new clip label design makes it faster to apply sound effects and easier to identify clips with applied effects in the timeline.
Other improvements added to Premiere Pro beta include automatic adjustment of waveforms when adjusting the height of tracks in the editing timeline and updated clip colors to make them easier to read. These will give editors more control over how their timeline can be adjusted to achieve an order that best suits their personal workflow.

Premiere Pro beta is a standalone trial version of the app that is available to anyone with a Creative Cloud subscription for the main Premiere Pro app. Users can install it from the Beta Apps tab in Creative Cloud, and both versions can coexist on the same system, allowing creators to experiment with features before they become available in the main Premiere Pro app.
For example, Enhanced Speech — a feature that automatically cleans up poor-quality recorded dialogue, removing unwanted background noise and improving overall clarity — will be generally available to all Premiere Pro users sometime in February, though Adobe hasn’t specified an exact date. The feature first debuted in Premiere Pro beta in September 2023, where it’s still available for testing ahead of its upcoming full release.

These updates aren’t meant to completely automate audio editing, but rather to streamline the existing process so editors have more time to work on other projects. “As Premiere Pro becomes the go-to tool for more and more video editing professionals, we’re seeing users do much more than just trim footage. At some level, most people need to do some color work, audio, titles, and even basic effects,” Paul Saccone, associate product manager for Adobe Pro Video, told The Verge.
“Sure, there are still specialists you can outsource, depending on the size of the project, but the more we can enable clients to make this type of work easier and more responsive within Premiere Pro, the more success they will have in their other creative endeavors.”
