The company announced via Twitter that customers who pre-ordered will be the first to receive their Ai Pins when shipping begins in March.

Initially, the company had estimated that the screenless wearable device designed to replace smartphones would be available in early 2024.

Humane, founded by former Apple employees Bethany Bongiorno and Imran Chaudhri, sees the smartphone as a weak point (though it still values its relationship with its former employer). As TechCrunch reports, Chaudhri said during a press conference in November that “the smartphone era has reached a plateau.” The founders see the AI- as “a new way of thinking, a new sense of opportunity.”
The $699 Humane AI Pin doesn’t have a screen. Instead, it relies on voice prompts and a projector that projects relevant information into the user’s hand. Its founders tout the device’s emphasis on privacy, combined with contextual intelligence, promising that it “quickly understands what you need, connecting you instantly to the right AI experience or service . ” Partnerships with OpenAI, Microsoft, and Tidal provide what the company calls “access to some of the most powerful AI models and platforms in the world.”
The pin is powered by a quad-core Snapdragon with a proprietary Qualcomm AI engine powering the Cosmos OS software. It ships in three color options, two of which add an extra $100 (~€90) to its price. Buyers must pay $24 (~€22) per month to access the pin's cellular data, which is built as an MVNO (mobile virtual network operator) on top of T-Mobile's network.
