There's a San Francisco-based startup called Humane (or hu.ma.ne) , and on Friday it unveiled its first product. It's called the Ai Pin , and the wearable seems to answer the following question: "What if we made something like a smartphone, but without a screen, and we attached it to your shirt? Oh, and with artificial intelligence!"

And that's exactly what it is. A strange, eccentrically designed pin that you place on your shirt or jacket and wear all day.
What functions does Ai Pin have?
It can take 13 MP resolution photos (soon also videos) and send messages, and it also has an AI Assistant based on Microsoft and OpenAI.
We are sure that talking to a "badge" on your shirt in a public place is not the most normal thing.
Therefore, it has Bluetooth, so you can choose not to use its "personal speaker" which "produces powerful sound, offering both proximity and volume as needed.".
It is recommended that you simply plug in your headphones and do everyone around you a favor by not exposing them to the loud sound of the AI Pin.
Ai Pin “quickly understands what you need” and instantly connects you to the right AI.
You can “chat” with it, of course, and its AI microphone “enhances search and finds and delivers results for what you’re looking for.” Additionally, AI-powered messaging can create messages with your tone of voice, and the Catch Me Up feature categorizes information in your incoming messages.

The AI-powered music experience comes to life through a partnership with Tidal. Ai Pin can also act as a language interpreter and even support your diet goals by recognizing foods using your vision.
Ai Pin runs on Cosmos, Humane's operating system which has no apps but mixes "smart technologies with intelligent interfaces" and advanced security.
On the battery side, notice that it is not always in active listening mode. Instead, to activate it, you need to press and slide the touchpad, where the “Trust Light” will flash.
This way it will inform you and everyone around you that the device placed on your shirt is collecting data.
It also has a laser that projects words, sentences, symbols, shapes, and anything else you need onto your hand. It's a temporary alternative meant to alleviate the lack of a screen.
The AI Pin comes in three colors – Eclipse, Equinox and Lunar, weighs 34 grams, and comes with an accessory, the “battery booster”, which adds another 20 grams. Multiple boosters can be easily swapped out, as they attach magnetically to the Ai Pin and charge it wirelessly.

The Ai Pin is powered by an undisclosed SoC Snapdragon , and the device and two battery boosters cost $699. Plus a $24 per month subscription that provides a phone number and data coverage through T-Mobile (for US data).
The AI Pin will ship early next year and pre-orders begin on November 16.
