The giant electronic fuse manufacturer, Volex, suffered a cyberattack.
The British giant cable company Volex (AIM: VLX) has faced a cyberattack that involved unauthorized access to some of the company's systems and data.
In its announcement on Monday, the manufacturer of power and data transmission products said that all its facilities remain operational and does not expect any significant financial impact due to the incident.
However, he admitted that there were “minimal disruptions at the global production levels”.
"Upon becoming aware of the incident, the Group implemented its established IT security protocols and took immediate action to stop unauthorized access to its systems and data. Specialist, third-party consultants have been engaged to investigate the nature and extent of the incident and to implement the incident response plan," Volex said.
Volex has not responded to SecurityWeek's request for further information, but based on the company's brief description of the incident , it may have been the target of a ransomware attack that was either discovered in time or did not involve the installation of file-encrypting, which can typically cause significant disruption to an organization.
SecurityWeek has checked the leak sites of several large ransomware groups, but found no mention of Volex on any of them.
Volex's shares on the Alternative Investment Market (AIM) of the London Stock Exchange fell slightly after the breach was published.
Volex provides power cables, plugs, connectors, electric vehicle charging solutions, consumer connectivity cables, data cables and data center power cables. The company has 27 manufacturing facilities and a global workforce of more than 11,500 employees in 24 countries.
