A website on the Dark Web claims that data from Auckland Transport, according to a cyber threat analysis expert.

The transit agency was hit by a cyberattack last week that severely damaged the city's fare payment system . AT said no customer data was compromised in the attack. It said HOP would be fully restored by the end of Tuesday.
However, cyber threat analyst Brett Callow has pointed to the fact that the Medusa hacking group has claimed to have stolen data. The hackers have yet to release any details about the stolen data, and Callow suggested that the group could be presenting fake data to try to extort more money from the company.
"As far as I know, they have never listed an organization on their website unless they have stolen data," he said.
“However, for everything and since these people are criminals, they are not necessarily telling the truth.”

«They could be bluffing in the hope that they can squeeze some money out of AT by using data they don't actually have».
Auckland Transport has said it is not willing to negotiate with hackers who are allegedly holding its data hostage for ransom. CEO Dean Kimptonsaid the attackers have given them seven days to pay up or reveal their personal details.
"actors ransomware are actually using bluffing as a key part of their strategy," he said.
“We were pretty clear from the beginning that our policy is not to pay ransomware demands.“
Kimpton said AT's data remains secure: "We are pleased that you can rest assured that information is protected."
Kimpton said AT had invested the money it would have needed to pay in ransom to ensure the security of its systems.
