The well-known hotel company MGM Resorts International announced, via X, that it is facing a cybersecurity issue affecting some of systems , including the main website, online reservations and various services in the casino (e.g. ATMs, slot machines and credit card machines).

MGM Resorts says it immediately launched an investigation after discovering the issue and took immediate steps to protect systems and data . As part of these measures, it took some systems offline.
“We quickly launched an investigation with the assistance of leading external cybersecurity experts,” MGM Resorts said in a post on X. “We also notified law enforcement and took immediate steps to protect our systems and data, including shutting down certain systems.”

According to customer reports, the outage appears to have started on Sunday evening, while computer systems at the facilities are currently out of service.
It is said that the company switched to manual operations, with ATMs and credit card machines being affected.
MGM Resorts' main website is temporarily down , stating that customers can make phone reservations .
MGM Rewards program customers are also affected and have been instructed to call a service number from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m. Pacific Time.
All MGM websites that use the same domain name as the main one – e.g., mgmresorts.com – are offline for hours (MGM National Harbor, Empire City Casino, MGM Springfield, MGM Grand Detroit, Beau Rivage and The Borgata). On all of them, there was a message for telephone contact.

There are also reports that some guests had trouble with their room keys after the cybersecurity incident at MGM Resorts.
The nature of the cyberattack that affected the hotel chain has not been publicly disclosed.
However, this is the second time MGM Resorts has confirmed a cybersecurity incident since 2019. Back then, one of cloud was breached and hackers managed to obtain more than 10 million customer records.
The company confirmed the breach in 2020 after a file of stolen data was shared on a hacking forum. The file contained information about visitors, including their names, dates of birth, email addresses, phone numbers, and physical addresses.
