The music streaming company Spotify is finally officially testing a playlist that automatically downloads some of your recent favorite songs, a few years after it started working on such a feature.

In a tweet, the company's CEO Daniel Ek said that Spotify is testing the “Your Offline Mix”, but beyond that gave no details. Specifically, it is not clear when the company plans to release the feature.
As the screenshot posted by Ek indicates, these playlists can store music for many hours of listening. This can be useful in moments when you are about to board a flight but have forgotten to download music. As a reminder, Spotify already allows you to download playlists for offline playback.

Tweets from some users indicate that they have already seen this feature appear in their apps. But it is unclear who is seeing this new feature. Additionally, there is a question about the availability of the feature for free users.
In 2020, Jane Manchun Wong, a reverse engineer, discovered that Spotify was working on an offline mixing feature. However, the feature was never released. Now, with Ek's official confirmation, the feature should be on track to become available to users in the future.
