Google has unveiled a new chatbot tool called “Bard” in an attempt to compete with ChatGPT’s remarkable achievement.
On Monday, Sundar Pichai — CEO of Google and parent company Alphabet — said in a blog that Bard will soon be accessible to “trusted testers,” with the expectation of being available to the masses within a few weeks.
AI research firm OpenAI released ChatGPT to the public in late November, similar to Bard, which is also based on a language model. Both are trained using vast amounts of online data and provide thoughtful responses when asked user questions.
Through Bard , Pichai explains that their ambition is to unify the world's accumulated knowledge with powerful language models and intelligence. He adds that by leveraging a wealth of data from the web, they are able to create fresh, higher-quality answers

Google 's flagship search engine is facing its most dangerous threat in years, which makes the company's latest announcement all the more significant. Despite this, ChatGPT was released to the public two months ago and has been used to create essays, stories, and songs, as well as answer questions that you would normally find on Google Search .
Last year, Paul Buchheit – one of the creators of Gmail – took to Twitter and publicly stated that Google search was in a “dangerous” state due to ChatGPT . According to his alarming tweet , he stated that Artificial Intelligence could cause complete disruption within the next year or two. While this statement may seem outrageous at first glance – AI-driven changes are already starting to take shape in many industries around the world today.
Microsoft , which has confirmed its intention to invest billions in OpenAI technology , is expected to integrate it into many of its products – most notably its Bing search engine platform . To develop this future effort and the progress made so far, Microsoft held a press event on Tuesday at its headquarters in Washington. This was highlighted just minutes after Google on Monday released what will soon be revolutionary AI-based features .

For some time, the technology that makes Bard possible has existed, but it hasn’t been accessible for public use. Two years ago, Google officially unveiled its Language Model for Dialogue Applications (LaMDA) and announced on Monday that it powers Bard . Last December, a former Google engineer called LaMDA “sensitive,” which caused a stir in the AI community due to numerous criticisms from experts in the field.
On Monday, Google used the example of a person asking Bard to explain the latest discoveries from Space Telescope James Webb NASA's in an engaging way that would captivate a nine-year-old. That's when Bard presented his answer as multiple bullet points.
With Bard, you can organize a baby shower for your friend, compare two Oscar-nominated films side by side, or even get creative ideas for what to make with the ingredients you have in your fridge – all thanks to Google!
On Monday, Pichai said that AI-enhanced technologies will soon be available on Google.

As Pichai wrote , you’ll soon be able to access complex information and multiple perspectives at once with AI-powered features in Search. This will give us a comprehensive understanding of any topic we’re researching, like finding different blogs from people who play both piano and guitar, or getting insights on how to start your journey as a beginner . With these new tools, making sense of large amounts of data has never been easier!
At this time, Google has no plans to monetize Bard. Unfortunately, they didn’t provide any details about potential advertising or how Bard might be able to make money in the future. A Google told reporters that their main priority is building a healthy digital environment and sending search traffic directly to news creators and publishers, as they develop artificial intelligence tools for that.
As Google moves more towards integrating an AI chatbot, potential risks arise. Experts have pointed out that these tools are trained on public data – making them more prone to perpetuating unbalanced opinions and spreading false information.

According to Pichai, it is important to bring AI-based models to the world with courage and responsibility.
The introduction of Google 's new artificial intelligence technology , Bard , marks a major milestone for the development of natural language processing systems that can quickly and accurately understand user data without sacrificing quality or speed.
