Tesla has stunned the auto industry this year, with two of its models ranking in the top 10 best-selling cars worldwide. Tesla 's rise is a frightening message to other manufacturers, who are now being forced to shift to building electric vehicles in larger quantities or face disruption from powerful competitors like Tesla.

Their market shares are slowly but steadily growing in most markets, and while these vehicles still represent a small portion of new car, there is some evidence that clearly shows that EVs are taking over the industry faster than people think.
For example, Norway could be considered a window into the future of the broader automotive industry, since over 80% of new car are electric and sales of “conventional” vehicles have slowed.
Furthermore, all of the fastest-growing car models are electric and are even among the top 10 best-selling vehicles in the world.

According to data collected by Focus to Move, electric vehicles, and more specifically the Tesla Model Y and Model 3, have entered the top 10 best-selling electric vehicles worldwide:
- Toyota Corolla: 1.12 million
- Toyota RAV4: 870,000
- Ford F-Series: 787,000
- Tesla Model Y: 759,000 (88% increase over last year)
- Toyota Camry: 675,000
- Honda CR-V: 601,000
- Tesla Model 3: 596,000 (up 4% year-over-year)
Toyota remains dominant with three of its models in the top five passenger vehicles.
However, sales of all models in the top 10 are declining year-over-year, except for Tesla's two vehicles.

The automaker should seriously consider the inclusion of two vehicles in the top 10 best-selling cars. In fact, the Model Y could potentially become the number one selling vehicle in the world this year.
