Google has created an incredible AI technology that turns text prompts into beautiful musical melodies that last several minutes. Google recently published a research paper containing the work of 13 researchers, introducing MusicLM – an artificial intelligence model analogous to OpenAI ’s DALL-E image generator .

The document provides an abundant amount of samples generated by MusicLM, from five‑minute melodic techno, jazz and swing excerpts to meditative sounds, electronic music and even rap/death metal.
AI demonstration of its capabilities, MusicLM produced an Arabic pop-inspired song with incomprehensible lyrics in response to the prompt “gym.” The melody and vocals were extremely captivating!
This tool can also create a unique combination of reggaeton and electronic music with an ethereal, unreal sound that will give you the feeling of being transported into the universe.

According to the researchers, their experiments with artificial intelligence revealed that MusicLM not only outperforms previous systems in sound quality, but is also more dedicated to accurately following its text description. In addition, MusicLM has the ability to depend on both a text and a melody, meaning it is able to modify different melodies according to the style indicated in the corresponding text caption.
Unfortunately, those eager to get their hands on the music- producing AI tool will have to wait, as Google has no “plans” to release its models at this time. Researchers warn of the potential for creative content abuse, cultural appropriation, and counterfeiting.
As stated in the MusicLM research paper, a public dataset containing approximately 5,500 music-text pairs is being published, and according to Google this may be useful for further training and evaluating other music-related artificial intelligence systems.
