Tesla broke its delivery record, but it fell short of Wall Street analysts’ expectations. Although deliveries totaled 405,000 during the fourth quarter — 1.2 million Model 3 and Y cars in 2022 along with 66,700 higher-end Model S and X vehicles combined — that number was significantly lower than the 431,000 originally forecast.
Tesla's production reached 439,000 vehicles in the fourth quarter of 2022. That was particularly impressive, as the company typically produces fewer cars than it delivers, according to Reuters. Production also jumped 47% compared to last year, with 1.37 million cars produced in total!
Tesla may not release sales figures to the public, but analysts have devised an accurate means of measuring its success each quarter: tracking delivery numbers.

Since December, Tesla's loyal fans have become slightly more critical of the CEO they once adored. Billionaire investor Leo KoGuan was among those who criticized Musk for his choice to leave the electric car company.
KoGuan wrote on Twitter that Tesla needs and deserves to have an active CEO on its team who will be available at all times.
