Security measures in critical infrastructure for the September elections

The Cybercrime Prosecution Directorate participated in a meeting to take technical security measures and address any electronic attacks on critical infrastructures, during the elections of 20/09/2015.votes elections

The Hellenic Police's Cybercrime Prosecution Directorate, in every electoral process, actively participates through its Head and other executives in the Election Cybersecurity Coordination Group and the Election Cybersecurity Group that operates under it.

In this context, the Cybercrime Prosecution Directorate, in view of the upcoming parliamentary elections, participated yesterday (01-09-2015) in a preliminary technical meeting, aiming at better preparation, organization and coordination of all involved bodies, to take preventive measures for the safe and smooth conduct of the elections and to deal with any electronic attacks on critical electronic - digital systems.

The meeting was held at the headquarters of the Ministry of Interior and Administrative Reconstruction and the Cybercrime Prosecution Directorate was invited by the General Directorate of Electronic Governance and Elections and participated jointly with executives from the said Ministry, the National Cybersecurity Response Team (CERT) and the Prime Minister's Office.

In particular, the Cybercrime Prosecution Directorate was requested to deploy officers to the headquarters of the Ministry of Interior and Administrative Reconstruction, and particularly to the critical points where the information systems that support the electoral process are located and operate, in order to prevent attacks and protect them from any malicious action.

At a subsequent meeting, individual technical issues will be determined and the focal points of contact for all entities involved in the electoral process will be defined, as well as the critical hosting points of the information systems, where specialized police personnel will be deployed.
