Recent speculation has proven false – 343 Industries will continue development of the “Halo” franchise.

Last week, Microsoft announced the disappointing news that 10,000 people were being laid off from the company (working across Xbox Game Studios, The Coalition, 343 Industries, and Bethesda). On the same day, however, Joseph Staten – the Creative Director of Halo Infinite, who joined 343 Industries in 2020 to help bring the game to fruition – revealed that he would be leaving 343 Industries to return to Xbox Publishing. While this move could be seen as an unfortunate end of sorts for Halo Infinite and 343 Industries, there’s still no official word on whether or how these layoffs will affect Halo Infinite’s progress going forward.
Although a report suggested that 343 Industries may no longer be developing Halo games and that other developers, while the studio will oversee the franchise, Pierre Hintze, head of 343 Industries, was quick to respond to this rumor via Twitter over the weekend:
“Halo and Master Chief are here to stay. 343 Industries will continue to develop Halo now and in the future, including epic stories, multiplayer, and everything else that makes Halo great.”

In short, Pierre Hintze dismisses both reports and whispers that mainline Halo games will no longer be developed by 343 Industries – which gave birth to Halo 4, 5: Guardians and Infinite.
