Samsung is unveiling an updated version of its latest smartwatches, with some exciting new features and improvements. With the Samsung Galaxy Watch 5 and Pro now equipped with camera zoom controls in the Camera Controller app — recently announced by Samsung — users can enjoy a more personalized experience. Additionally, this software upgrade includes a device diagnostic tool for improved performance, as well as offering the latest security patches.

The new Camera Controller feature on the Galaxy Watch 5 lets you use the popular pinch-to-zoom gesture to adjust the zoom levels . However, Samsung said that this option is only available for select devices released after the Samsung Galaxy S20 and Z Flip, which are running One UI 5.1 or later. Since the company has not yet released One UI 5.1 to any of its devices, you may not be able to use this feature on smartwatch after installing the update.

The new device diagnostics tool mentioned in the changelog will help users “check the proper performance of battery status , touchscreen operation, etc. on the connected phone,” using updated versions of the Samsung Members and Galaxy Wearable apps. Unfortunately, the updated apps are not live yet, so we can’t provide detailed information about the tool.
Additionally, the recent software update brings some optimization and system stability improvements along with the updated Android security patch for January 2023.
