Proton Drive is coming to iOS and Android two months after its launch on the web app. 1 GB of free cloud storage, 200 GB for $3.99/month, or 500 GB for $9.99/month.

Proton, a privacy startup best known for its Proton Mail service, has announced that its end-to-end encrypted cloud storage service is now available as an app for Android and iOS. With free and paid tiers, Proton Drive offers users a secure way to upload, store, and share files directly from their mobile devices.
Proton Drive’s end-to-end encryption ensures that only the user and those they share the data with can access the files. Not even Proton itself has the right to view the information unless the user gives permission . Expiration dates, passwords, and other restrictions can be placed on shared folders and files before sending them to others (including non-Proton users) via sharing links. Access can be revoked at any time, and metadata is encrypted, including file and folder names, creation dates , and thumbnails. You can also sync and preview files via the Proton Drive mobile apps.

The free version of Proton Drive provides 1GB of cloud storage, which can be increased to 200GB for $3.99 per month if you want it as a standalone subscription, or to 500GB with the Proton Unlimited package for $9.99 per month, which also includes access to Proton Mail, Proton Calendar, and Proton VPN. With this service, there are no limits on file sizes.

Proton, based in Switzerland, is outside the jurisdiction of the US and EU and is not subject to information-sharing such as the Five Eyes or Fourteen Eyes. The company claims that Proton Drive has stronger privacy protections than companies located within the aforementioned regions.
Proton first launched Proton Drive for the web earlier this year. So far, one million files have been uploaded to the service, with photos making up 50% of those files.
