Offensive Security released Kali Linux 2022.4 which came with new Azure and QEMU images, 6 new tools and improved desktop experiences.
Kali Linux is one of the most popular open source operating systems for security professionals, ethical hackers, and penetration testers. With each new release, the Kali adds new and updated tools to its arsenal. This time, the latest version of Kali Linux – 2022.4 – has some great new features that make it even more powerful than before.
Kali Linux 2022.4 is the first in the series to add support for the latest Linux 6.0. This means that if you are using the newer ISO images, Kali Linux should now work and support more types of hardware.
Kali Linux is a distribution created for ethical hackers and allows them to perform tasks such as penetration testing, security audits, and cybersecurity investigations on networks.

The Kali Linux proudly presents its latest release, which includes a number of new features, including:
- Kali Linux distro returns to Microsoft Azure
- 6 new tools
- Kali NetHunter Pro Release

Offensive , Security released Kali Linux 2022.4 as a “nice surprise for everyone to enjoy!” during the Black Hat, BSides LV and DefCon.
Kali Linux has just released version 5.18.5, while the Raspberry Pi is still using version 5.15.
Kali Linux can be found in the Azure Marketplace, allowing users to develop and run penetration tests from the cloud.
Azure platform to receive Kali Linux 2022.3, with the team announcing its addition on August 30th after the release of 2022.3.
The Kali team now offers a pre-built image for QEMU . “We are including a QEMU image with our pre-built images,” the team announced, hoping this will make life easier for those using self-managed Proxmox virtual environments (VE), virt-manager , or libvirt .
With each new release of Kali Linux comes a slew of new tools to play with. The latest release, for example, features six brand new tools – including Windows NTLM relay tools and a privilege escalation tool – as well as a driver for Hak5 ’s Coconut WiFi . So, whatever your purpose for using Kali Linux, you’re sure to find something useful in the latest update.
The following six tools were recently added with Kali 2022.4:
- bloodhound.py: A python-based ingestor for BloodHound
- certipy: Tool for enumerating and abusing Active Directory Certificate Services
- hak5-wifi-coconut: A user driver for WiFi USB NICs and the Hak5 WiFi Coconut
- ldapdomaindump: An Active Directory information dumper via LDAP
- peass ng: Privilege escalation tools for Windows, Linux/Unix* and MacOS
- rizin-cutter: Reverse engineering platform powered by rizin
With this release, you'll find a slew of desktop updates. These include GNOME 43 with its brand new GTK3 theme and KDE Plasma 5.26 which features updated widgets across the board.

Kali Nethunter Pro is now available, with images available for the PinePhone and PinePhonePro.
“The launch of Kali NetHunter Pro marks a new beginning for Kali Linux and NetHunter. It is a bare metal installation of Kali Linux with the Phosh, optimized for mobile devices.”
The Kali Linux 2022.4 states: “First of all, we have SD card images for PinePhone and PinePhone Pro for dual booting alongside the main OS. We will soon release alternate builds with Plasma Mobile as well as installers so you can install Kali NetHunter Pro on internal flash memory.”
NetHunter Pro has been released , along with improvements to Kali Nethunter . With this release, NetHunter now features internal Bluetooth support , improved Wardriving , Kex audio support , and fixes for crashes on Android 11 and Android 12. We hope you enjoy these new features and improvements!
Before using Kali Linux 2022.4, you can upgrade your existing installation, choose a platform for new installations, or directly download ISO for live distributions.
To upgrade from a previous version, you can use the following commands to achieve the latest version.

Check which version of Windows Subsystem for Linux Kali is running by typing 'wsl -l -v' at a Windows command prompt . If it is not WSL2 , upgrade it for better speed and graphical application support. You can determine if the upgrade process was successful with this command:
grep VERSION /etc/os-release
