Iron Countershade is a new type of cosmetic item in Destiny 2, called a shader, that was added during Season of the Seraph to make your armor look great!
When this “shader” is applied to armor, it gives it a chainmail texture, which looks great on medieval or knightly-themed armor sets, of which the game is full!

This shader is very popular among Destiny 2 players, but it’s also incredibly difficult to obtain. To unlock it, players must reset their Iron Banner rank to 0 and then reach rank 16 again.
It’s the penultimate reward on the “prestige reputation track.”
However, this process can be quite time-consuming, and there are several factors that make it even more difficult.
Obtaining the Iron Countershade shader can be a time-consuming process, and one of the main factors that makes it difficult is that this season’s Iron Banner event only lasts two weeks instead of the usual three, which means players have to earn more ranks each week. Another factor is that the new game mode, “Fortress,” often results in matches going full-time, making them take longer to complete.
However, there are ways to increase the amount of reputation points you earn during the Iron Banner event:
-Completing the Iron Banner daily challenges will give a 100% increase to the reputation points you earn for matches played that week.
-Equipping five Iron Banner weapons or armor during matches will give an extra "help", while Iron Banner armor with transmog Iron Banner cosmetics counts x2.
-Equipping an Iron Banner emblem will also give something extra.
The Golden Standard emblem can be obtained by claiming an Iron Banner gold medal. All of these methods together give an 11.0x boost to Iron Banner reputation, which is the maximum possible boost. Winning a match gives 300xp, losing gives 220xp, and a typical match lasts about 10 minutes, not counting the waiting time for the match to start.

The process of acquiring the shader can be quite time-consuming. Since the “Fortress” game mode often leads to longer matches, it’s likely that players will have more losses than wins, making the process even more time-consuming.
If a player has 34 wins and 40 losses, it will take about 12 hours to earn enough points to unlock the shader. Due to the time commitment, some players are intentionally losing matches to quickly earn the 220xp per loss.
It’s worth noting that based on previous Iron Banner events, this shader may not be available again. Conversely, acquiring full sets for all three classes in the game can take even longer than acquiring the shader, according to Tim, a Destiny 2 expert, who said it took him “two resets at Heroic III rank 3” to acquire the full set for all classes.
